On January 3rd, 2097, a collision with a celestial object essentially wiped out human civilization. Seventy years later, the survivors still live in space, unable to return to Earth. Certain humans known as "Divers" can project an avatar down to the planet to retrieve data from Earth-based computer networks. Suzuro is a 14-year-old freelance diver with extraordinary skill, but is only C-rank because of age restrictions. She operates from a salvage ship alongside her pilot Ginga, who keeps the vessel clear of floating debris while she is linked to Earth, and her assistant Shimugi. It's not just space junk slamming into the ship that could kill Suzuro during a dive; dangers on Earth itself can also kill her simply by interacting with her avatar. Suzuro must be sure that the cases she accepts are worth the risk.
