Hagito Tsukikawa and Kei Shiori, both middle school students, became friends through their shared hobby of "writing novels." The comfortable relationship between Shiori, who wrote, and Sekikawa, who read—that relationship was easily shattered just before they graduated from junior high school. After several years of estrangement, the two unexpectedly reunited at university. In the awkward atmosphere, Shiori forces a half-finished manuscript into Tsumikawa's hands and pleads with him to return to their old relationship. Sekikawa reluctantly accepted the manuscript, but what Shiori had written was a love story between two people of the same sex, and it lacked a certain realism.
