Yoshiko is a diligent high school student whose spare time is mostly spent aiding a hikikomori childhood friend and a strange, reclusive uncle. During a visit to her uncle's penthouse with two of her friends, Yoshiko spots a black substance resembling snow drifting from the sky—but her friends cannot see it. Soon after, a powerful earthquake rocks the city, and Yoshiko, her friends, her uncle, and his dog become stranded in an unfamiliar world...alongside a peculiar group of strangers.
