In every individual's life, a soul follows a set path determined by fate, influencing ninety percent of their existence. Deviation from this path, caused by accidents or unforeseen murders, results in the fragmentation of a "psycholith," which is a physical embodiment of one's soul. These fractured psycholiths pollute the surroundings, creating "negative points" that interfere with the soul's intended journey and initiate a chain of unfortunate events. Sakurai, a principled individual, and Amano, who displays apathy, are part of a specialized team responsible for maintaining the integrity of these soul paths. Under the program Psycholith Collection & Cleaning, they collect and eliminate damaged psycholiths while cleansing the environmental stains they cause. However, their mission involves a complex ethical dimension: they are also required to prevent the destruction of psycholiths, which sometimes entails taking the life of the soul's carrier.
