Ace of the Diamond
ダイヤのA〈エース〉
Diamond no Ace
Middle school student Eijun Sawamura has just lost his final baseball game after throwing a distinctive fastball that cost Akagi Middle School their chance to reach the nationals. As the team captain, he blames himself for the crushing defeat and swears to bring his teammates there when they enter high school. However, with his poor academic record and no school recommendations nearby, Sawamura mopes while trying to figure out how to keep that promise. His pitch in that last game attracts the notice of a scout from the elite Seidou High School in Tokyo, who soon persuades a hesitant Sawamura to come watch their nationally-ranked baseball team practice. At Seidou, an unplanned face-off between Sawamura and one of their hitters brings him into contact with Kazuya Miyuki—a catcher capable of bringing out Sawamura’s abilities as a pitcher. The experience he gains at Seidou transforms his earlier reluctance to move to Tokyo. Even though he still feels guilty about abandoning his friends, they push him to accept the offer and enroll at Seidou. With a fresh sense of resolve, Sawamura starts the tough path to becoming Seidou’s ace and reaching the nationals, all while keeping the spirit of his former school alive.
