In the year 19XX, a new celestial body is found sharing Earth's orbit. Named "Planet Deimon" after its discoverer, Doctor Deimon, the planet's orbit gradually slows, bringing it close to Earth. Following a severe storm, the planet becomes Earth's second moon. Doctor Deimon's son, Rock, leads an expedition to explore the new planet and discovers two sentient races living on Deimon: the "Epumu," a birdlike people capable of flight, and the "Ruboroom," a race of shape-shifting clay beings enslaved by the Epumu. After Rock's first trip to Deimon, he adopts a baby Epumu chick named "Chiko" and raises them, learning more about Deimon's culture and the contrasts between human and Epumu society. As tensions between Earth and Deimon escalate, Rock becomes an ambassador for both worlds, seeking a path to peace for everyone.
