After witnessing the relatively unknown Karasuno High School decisively win a volleyball practice match, soon-to-be first-year student Shouyou Hinata sets his sights on joining their team as the ace. However, his short stature and lack of experience in any official matches make him a target for criticism from Karasuno's current players, especially the team's renowned setter Tobio Kageyama.
