In Necrolog, Son, a freelance writer, grieves the death of his cherished "elder sister," Shue. A youthful yet talented and shrewd Taoist priest named Fu appears and resurrects Shue as a zombie to act as Son's protector. Seeking a way to fully restore Shue, Son becomes Fu's disciple and agrees to help with many difficult tasks. During his journey, Son encounters various necromancy priests and practitioners, and visits far-off worlds. The story is deeply rooted in Chinese necromantic traditions and folklore, explaining the title Necrolog.
