Natsume Yuujinchou
Takashi Natsume is a 15-year-old boy who desires nothing more than to live a normal life like everyone else. Unfortunately, just like his late grandmother Reiko, he has the ability to see youkai, or spirits. Natsume later learns that Reiko left him a book of contracts in which she had bound youkai—the "Book of Friends." However, since Reiko never summoned them by name, the spirits have been kept in a confined state. Now, these spirits constantly seek out Natsume in hopes of having their contracts released so they can gain freedom. Although some kind and harmless spirits approach Natsume asking for assistance, others are malicious and hostile, posing a threat to him. Enter Madara, a spirit who takes the form of a plump cat. Often called Nyanko-sensei by Natsume, Madara is a self-styled bodyguard who has his own reasons for staying with Natsume. Natsume Yuujinchou is a supernatural slice-of-life series following a boy who tries to lead a normal life while navigating both the spirit and human realms, learning valuable life lessons along the way.
