In the bustling, chaotic environment of her school, Kanoko Himemiya stands out as the lone quiet student amidst a sea of troublemakers. Despite her older sister Mayu's rising stardom, Kanoko's unassuming look and demeanor suggest a life devoid of excitement. Both sisters bear a unique butterfly-shaped birthmark on their thumbs, a trait that sets them apart. Kanoko catches the eye of Tsubame Yoshizawa, a notorious ladies' man known for painting girls' nails, but she declines his persistent advances. One day, while Kanoko is hounded by paparazzi due to her sister's celebrity status, Tsubame comes to her rescue. During their escape, their thumbs accidentally touch, triggering vivid memories of a previous life. Tsubame reveals that he and his former lover committed a double suicide and were reincarnated in this era, destined to reunite as soulmates. These memories can only be accessed by pressing their butterfly birthmarks together, yet the visions often diverge. Believing Kanoko to be his fated partner, Tsubame desires to date her, though Kanoko doubts his intentions, thinking he might be searching for her sister instead. As more individuals with identical birthmarks surface, the intertwined memories of Kanoko and Tsubame become increasingly convoluted, linking a group of friends to a sorrowful past. With only fragmented insights into historical events, they must decide whether to pursue their predestined romances or defy their fates.
