Bokura no Funkasai

After a nearby volcano erupts, the dying town of Kanematsu turns into a flourishing hot spring resort. Tomiyama, a levelheaded high school student, finds it hard to accept this abrupt change, while his friend Sakurajima embraces it wholeheartedly. The story examines how their relationship evolves as their hometown’s environment shifts. The manga’s laid-back, easygoing art style in depicting the changing emotions of young men has won over a devoted readership.

Background

Bokura no Funka Matsuri won the 16th Japan Media Arts Festival New Face Award in 2012.
