Hana wa Saku ka

One night on his commute home, corporate employee Kazuaki Sakurai has a distressing run-in with another passenger, leaving his clothes and work documents ruined. The apathetic stranger, Youichi Minagawa, proposes to make amends by inviting Sakurai to his residence, and Sakurai complies without objection. Though Youichi is a college student, he surprisingly owns a large house, an unusual circumstance for someone his age. This catches Sakurai's attention, but their impromptu connection ends once the apology is fulfilled, and Sakurai returns to his monotonous everyday life. However, fate apparently has different designs for him. Despite having no intention of returning, Sakurai repeatedly finds himself back at Youichi's home, and the ensuing incidents draw them increasingly close. Consequently, Sakurai develops a deeper curiosity about the young man, while Youichi begins to reveal a side of himself that has surfaced only since the office worker arrived.

Background

Hana wa Saku ka has been published in English as Does the Flower Blossom? by DMP since January 27, 2015 and in Polish by Yumegari since February 3, 2015. The manga received a Japanese live-action movie adaptation which was released on February 14, 2018.
