The comedic manga follows Matsukoma, a part-time night shift convenience store worker, who is assigned to train new employee Tomoharu Nii, nicknamed Nietzsche-sensei. Tomoharu, a university student focusing on Buddhism, retorts with "God is dead" when an angry customer declares, "Customers are gods!" The story centers on Matsukoma and Tomoharu's time at the store, where Tomoharu's odd behaviors persistently bewilder customers and coworkers alike.

Background
Nietzsche-sensei: Conveni ni, Satori Sedai no Shinjin ga Maiorita is based off a popular series of Twitter posts detailing with lives of real-life convenience store employees. An audio drama CD adaptation was released on February 25, 2015. A 10-episode Yomiuri TV's live-action TV drama adaptation, written and directed by Yuuichi Fukuda, premiered on January 1, 2016. In a list of best-selling first volumes published in 2014, compiled by The Japan Publication Sales' Distribution Reform Group Comic Team, the series ranked number three. It also ranked number three on a list of the top 15 manga series containing less than five volumes, based on a poll conducted by the online bookseller Honya Club.
