Masaru is on the verge of graduating from a technical college but still hasn't secured a job. His sole source of happiness is spending time at "Hidamari," a cafe run by the parents of his childhood friends, Nanami and Kurumi, who also work there. When he hears that another childhood friend is returning to town, he remarks, "I want to see her soon." This statement causes Nanami and Kurumi to begin treating him in a way they never have before.
