Middle-aged salaryman Uematsu is startled when Asahikawa, a part-time worker at a restaurant, shows he knows all about Uematsu's eating habits. Fresh off his promotion to department head, Uematsu had believed his life was finally on the upswing—only for his wife to walk out on him soon after. Feeling worn down in his forties, Uematsu tries to steer clear of any extra trouble. Yet he finds comfort in Asahikawa's company and gradually begins to open up. But Asahikawa seems intent on getting far closer to Uematsu than he ever expected.
