Hanafuda follows the supernatural story of Izuna, a nobleman who becomes a demon hunter as he journeys across Japan to kill the oni that took the life of his beloved Lady Kiri. Along the way, Izuna meets a young fox capable of shapeshifting, and the two travel together seeking vengeance against the oni. Hanafuda, meaning "flower cards," is a Japanese card game where each suit represents a month and a flower. Mirroring the game, every chapter in Hanafuda is tied to a different suit.
