During World War II, Japanese-American teenager Shiina Atsushi arrives in Japan and discovers an injured Chinese girl amid the wreckage of a bombed building. She bears a strange glowing mark on her back and claims her own world has been destroyed. When she tries to flee, the military steps in and orders her to come with them. With the girl's true nature unknown, Atsushi must choose his next move.
