Twenty years after Arus vanquished the Demon Lord Imagine, the world of Dragon Quest Retsuden: Roto no Monshou once again faces peril. Five years earlier, a calamity called "the Day of Loss" caused all magic to vanish. In the underground kingdom of Radatome, every inhabitant disappeared without a trace during that event—except for Prince Aros and A-Kagi, a member of the Band of the Hawks, who were inside the castle plotting a theft that night. After the trauma of the Day of Loss, Aros lost his memory and was raised by A-Kagi and the Band of the Hawks. Eventually, Aros decides to leave his adopted family to solve the mystery behind the Day of Loss and search for his missing twin sister, who appears to be stealing holy crystal orbs under the command of a mysterious youth named Lamia. Meanwhile, unknown attackers are hunting down the allies of the legendary hero Arus.
