This is a tale of two classmates, Sahoko and Rio, who become friends. Rio is struggling with depression and self-harm, feeling unloved by her family—her father, stepmother, and stepbrother. However, Sahoko appears to be the one bright spot in Rio's life. Sahoko herself has a mysterious background and seems to have a strained relationship with her own parents; she currently lives with her aunt. There are also hints that Sahoko and Rio have encountered each other before, when they were much younger.
