Ichika Tachibana, a quiet and serious 14-year-old junior high student, is assigned to clean an unused school building on the last day of the term. There is a rumor that a ghost haunts a large mirror inside one of the rooms, which has a small crack. Despite the rumor, Ichika goes to clean it—only to see someone else's reflection instead of her own. When she returns to the room to look for her phone, she finds that figure has stepped out of the mirror: a girl with pigtails and a flowing dress named Manatsu Kuroki. After getting her phone back, one of the stones on Ichika's cell phone charm begins to glow, transforming her clothes and letting her fly toward a being called a Djinn. Manatsu then asks Ichika to do her summer homework: use the charm to summon Djinn throughout the vacation and write down her experiences. Unbeknownst to Ichika, meeting Manatsu will lead to a summer she will never forget.
