Mizuki Mochizuki, a high school student, is infatuated with British rock musician Adam Lang. However, Adam remains unable to see her for who she truly is, still mourning the loss of his former girlfriend, Sayaka Kamijou. When Adam calls Mizuki and asks her to leave Tokyo with him, she agrees and rushes to meet him. But as Mizuki crosses the street toward Adam, she is hit by a car and never reaches him. One month later, an abandoned mansion where Mizuki and Adam once spent two weeks together is now occupied by a girl who looks exactly like Mizuki. Fifth-grader Hotaru Shiraishi, while looking for her missing cat, encounters this girl and discovers that the girl has lost all her memories—she cannot even remember her own name. The only thing she recalls is a desire to reunite with someone named "Adam," so Hotaru decides to call her "Eve." Hotaru seeks help from her friend Sae Kayama and classmates Tetsu Sugisaki and Masaki Miura to unravel the mysteries surrounding Eve—but they insist they cannot see her at all.
