The narrative centers on Izumo, a young prince of the country Nakatsu where his uncle Furune sits on the throne. Hot-blooded and filled with a strong sense of justice, Izumo does not fully comprehend his royal position, and his behavior can sometimes come across as overwhelming. At that point, assassins hiding on foreign merchant ships launch a surprise attack on Furune.
