Inaba Mikihiko, an optimistic top student, has a strong connection with his three childhood friends and believes they will all fulfill their shared goal of enrolling in a prestigious Tokyo high school. However, this dream proves too ambitious. After performing poorly on the entrance exams and ending up at a local public high school, Mikihiko finds himself socially withdrawn. His childhood friend Keiko tries to rebuild their old connection but notices the drastic shifts in their friends' personalities.
