This tale follows 14-year-old Kotobuki-chan, a junior high school girl who, while shopping with friends, spots a cool fashion boutique. What catches Kotobuki's eye is the man she sees through the store's window. His name is Hodaka-san, the shop's owner who also designs every garment sold there. Kotobuki develops a serious crush on Hodaka-san and spends much of her time at the café across the street, watching him work through the window. Everything changes one day when Hodaka and two of his friends visit the same café and ask to share Kotobuki's table since no other seats are available. Kotobuki lies about her age, claiming to be 20 and in college. Hodaka-san is 26, and Kotobuki fears that if he knew she was only 14, he would not like her. When Hodaka's friends tease her, asking which guy she'd choose as a boyfriend, Kotobuki immediately picks Hodaka-san. The men laugh and jokingly call her Hodaka's girlfriend. After that, Kotobuki hangs around the shop more often, sometimes even working there, all while pretending to be older than she really is. Eventually, the truth comes out, and the relationship between Kotobuki and Hodaka becomes very strained. Kotobuki is so much younger than him—will it ever work out? She's still just a schoolgirl. Can Hodaka truly care for someone so young?
