Daichi Yonekawa mistakenly thinks badminton is only for girls, so he practices with his twin sister, Yuki. But his perspective shifts after he encounters Taka Tsubahara, the current Japanese Junior Champion, whose outstanding technique provides a far more engaging test than training with his sibling. Through these meetings, Daichi learns the real excitement of the sport and decides to abandon his soccer team in order to devote himself fully to badminton. His new goal is to face Taka Tsubahara someday as an equal rival.
