Assigned female at birth, nonbinary manga artist Poppy Pesuyama has always felt out of place in a world defined by strict gender binaries. When they secure a position as an assistant to the celebrated manga artist X, Poppy faces not only the pressure of working with a major talent but also endures X's inappropriate actions, which exacerbate their gender dysphoria and lead to a deeply troubling situation. Years later, the traumatic experiences and ridicule Poppy faced under X continue to haunt them, preventing the closure necessary to heal. Motivated by a mix of rage and determination, Poppy revisits their past, reflecting on their journey toward self-acceptance, their exploration of gender identity, and their navigation through societal expectations. Through this introspective journey, Poppy begins to discover what they have truly been seeking all along.
