The nonbinary manga artist Poppy Pesuyama, assigned female at birth, has long felt out of place in a world that enforces rigid gender roles. After landing a job as an assistant to the renowned manga creator X, they face not only the intense pressure of working alongside a major talent but also X's inappropriate conduct, which intensifies their gender dysphoria and leads to a deeply troubling ordeal. Years later, the trauma and mockery Poppy endured under X continue to linger, blocking the closure they need to heal. Driven by a blend of anger and resolve, Poppy revisits the past, reflecting on their path toward self-acceptance, their exploration of gender identity, and how they navigated societal expectations. Through this introspection, they start to understand what they have truly been seeking all along.
