A university student decides to try out a popular otome game after hearing so much about it. She breezes through normal mode and starts feeling sorry for the villainess, Penelope Eckhart—a fake replacement for the duke’s missing daughter, who is the game’s protagonist. Confident she can handle hard mode too, she is taken aback by the sudden spike in difficulty and eventually collapses from exhaustion. When she wakes up, she finds herself in an unfamiliar world, having been reincarnated as the villainess herself. Now trapped in a place where almost everyone wants her dead, Penelope must make smart choices to avoid the death route. Will she win the affections of a tyrannical prince, a suspicious magician, a noble from a fallen kingdom, or one of her cruel adoptive brothers?

Villains Are Destined to Die is an adaptation of Gwon Gyeoeul's Agyeok-ui Ending Jugeum-ppun web novel series. It is originally a webtoon series which has been officially published in book format by D&C Webtoon Biz (디앤씨웹툰비즈) since February 26, 2021. The series has been published digitally in English by Tapas since October 24, 2020. The volumes have been published by Yen Press under the Ize Press imprint since November 8, 2022.
