An ordinary art enthusiast, Junichi Naruse picks up drawing and painting once more. In doing so, he encounters Megumi Hamura and falls in love. They begin dating and later decide to move in together, prompting Junichi to go to a real estate agency. But during a robbery, he tries to rescue a child and gets shot in the head. Waking up one month later, Junichi has made a miraculous recovery thanks to a brain transplant from an unidentified donor. Over time, he experiences severe shifts in his personality, which strain his ability to keep his relationships intact. As he edges closer to madness, he seeks to uncover the donor's identity before he permanently loses his own sense of self.
