Tsurugi Tatsuno is a boy who takes part in virtual Digimon battle tournaments. When a Kuwagamon shows up in the real world, his Greymon becomes real and shields him. Piximon calls Tsurugi to the Digital World to rescue it from the villainous Barbamon. Since his Digimon has a hexagon-shaped mark, it is an Illegal Digimon, meaning Digimon that carry this symbol can assist in saving the Digital World. Later, Tsurugi's Greymon De-Digivolves into Agumon, and they encounter other individuals fated to defend the Digital World from Barbamon's army. Now they need to halt Barbamon and his underlings before they collect every DigiMemory and take over both realities.
