After the events of Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger begins with Tetsuya Tsurugi taking the lead role. He pilots Great Mazinger, a powerful robot created by Kenzo Kabuto, the father of Koji Kabuto who was thought to be dead. The story follows Tetsuya as he battles the Mycene Empire and its many strong mechanical enemies.
