In "Excuse Me for Being a Cat!," Yayoi Shiraishi is your typical, albeit clumsy, high school girl whose life gets flipped upside down by a scientific mishap. Her father, the eccentric physicist Shiraishi Sensei, inadvertently drags her into a teleportation test with a cat, leading to a fusion reminiscent of the movie "The Fly." Because of this, Yayoi turns into a "catgirl" whenever she gets overly thrilled, sprouting cat ears and a tail. In that state, she gains heightened abilities but also takes on cat-like habits, especially triggered by things like spotting a mouse. Even though she has a boyfriend, her condition often ruins their dates, since her transformations kick in during moments of excitement.
