In the middle of the 21st century, human civilization is facing a critical crisis. Genetic technology had expanded rapidly due to enormous profits, accelerating research. An "immortality" gene no longer appeared to be just a fantasy. However, a sample of this gene accidentally merged with a biohazard, resulting in the birth of a new life-form. "They" also absorbed genetic material from the natural world, developing into an enemy that has invaded human territory. The Shahel are now strong enough to overpower human military forces, and both North and South America have already been conquered. The USA, along with other nations, has ceased to exist on the map. In Japan, the government has created and continues to enhance a "samurai" unit to fight against the Shahel, deploying soldiers augmented with nano-machines to link with an armored exoskeleton. At this moment, Tsukahara Takemichi is assigned to the 1st platoon at the "Place of the Samurai."
