Thomas no Shinzou

Near the end of winter, Thomas Werner, a student at a German boarding school, passes away one morning. He leaves behind a single letter addressed to his fellow student Juli that reads, "Here is my love. Here is the sound of my heart." The scholarly Juli, his faith shattered by the letter's contents, plunges into profound despair. His cynical roommate Oscar becomes tasked with monitoring Juli's fragile psyche while concealing his own hidden emotions for Juli. Then a new student, Eric, arrives at the school—bearing an uncanny resemblance to the late Thomas.

Background

Thomas no Shinzou was published as The Heart of Thomas by Fantagraphics Books in one hardcover omnibus on January 18, 2013. The series was adapted into a 1988 live-action film and a 1995 stage production.
