Planet Mamango, torn from Earth in ancient times, is now returning after five million years. One night, private detective Ban Shunsaku witnesses a murder and meets boy researcher Shikishima Kenichi, who holds the key to solving the case. Shikishima discovers that a stone from Planet Mamango generates immense energy. Using this energy stone to build a rocket, Shikishima assembles an exploration team and departs for Planet Mamango. The rocket flies straight toward the planet under Shikishima's command, along with Captain Butamo Makeru, Ayame and Momiji—cabbages created by the captain—a rabbit named Mii, and Ban Shunsaku. Eventually, the rocket lands on Planet Mamango, where the group finds "The Lost World," an ancient environment where dinosaurs roam and ferns and cycads cover the ground.
