Ian is a young man from a fractured family. He travels from Australia to England and then to America, hoping to achieve his dreams and reunite with his beloved sister. His story is told in reverse through the framing narrative of Jim, a reporter driven to write a novel about Ian's experiences: not simple. A story within a story, a book within a book, a tale about the search for family, for an emotional home.
