The story is told from Kinushima Michiru's perspective in a near-future where human-like androids are commonplace. SA Corp., an android manufacturer, created Giftia, an advanced model with heightened emotional capabilities and human-like traits beyond earlier designs. However, technical constraints limit these androids to a finite operational period before malfunctions occur. To address this, SA Corp. establishes a terminal service to recover Giftia units that have exceeded their lifespan. Tsukasa Mizugaki, a new recruit to this service, works alongside the Giftia android named Isla to retrieve other androids past their service period.
