Inochi no Tabekata

Tobi Otogiri is a second-year middle school student who does not often socialize with his classmates. Instead, he mostly has secret conversations with his friend Baku, a mysterious backpack he received on the day he last saw his older brother. At least, Tobi believed these chats were private until a girl in his class named Ryuuko suddenly mentions Baku. Shortly after, strange things start happening at school, and the pair come to realize the cause may be a creature visible only to them. Thus begins an adventure merging reality and fantasy, human and nonhuman—a tale of life consuming life.

Background

Inochi no Tabekata is based on Eve's music video of the same title. The series has been published in English as How to Eat Life by Yen Press under the Yen On imprint since July 8, 2025.
