Background
The first five volumes of Full Metal Panic! were published in English by TokyoPop from September 11, 2007, to February 1, 2011, before publication was discontinued. The fourth TokyoPop volume is a compilation of the original fourth and fifth. The series was published digitally in English by J-Novel Club from May 4, 2019, to June 25, 2021, and in print as 3-in-1 omnibus volumes from February 4, 2020, to July 19, 2022. The series ranked first in the 2008 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! in the Best Light Novel category.
