Inventor Senbei Norimaki builds a super-smart robot named Arale, and finds out that his creation is even more amazing than he imagined. Thrilled by what he's made, Senbei hurries to get Arale to work just like a human girl in Penguin Village. One of his first jobs is to find her some glasses and the right clothes.

Background

Dr. Slump won the 27th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shounen and Shoujo categories in 1981. The series was published in English by VIZ Media from May 3, 2005, to May 5, 2009. This release included some censorship and translation changes. Before this, it had been introduced to the English-speaking readership in the educational publication Mangajin in February 1994, in issues 32 and 33.
