Sixth-grader Yuri Otani is chosen by her class to serve on Elementary School 9's "Alien Party" alongside fellow "Alien Fighters" Kumi Kawamura and Kasumi Tomine. Their mission is to capture—preferably without killing—any aliens that appear on school grounds. They are guided by advisor Ms. Megumi Hisakawa and assisted by symbiotic creatures called "Borg," which attach to their hosts' heads to protect them from threats. Yuri's primary reason for loathing her role in the Alien Party is her intense fear of aliens. Whether she faints at the sight of them or freezes in terror, she is unable to perform her duties. Consequently, Kumi, Kasumi, and even Yuri's own Borg must compensate for her shortcomings. Ms. Hisakawa explains that the more effectively the girls synchronize with their Borgs, the better they will become at their job. However, a deeper secret may lurk behind the Alien Party's true purpose and the bond between the girls and their Borgs.

Background

Alien 9 was published in English as Alien Nine by Central Park Media from May 1, 2003 to September 10, 2003 and in Russian by Comics Factory in 2010. The series was republished in one volume on May 2003 under the title Alien 9 Complete.
