Yukito Kunisaki, a man journeying across Japan, is on a quest to find the "girl in the sky." He eventually arrives at a quiet coastal town and encounters an odd girl named Misuzu Kamio, who experiences dreams of soaring through the sky. While remaining in the town, Yukito gets acquainted with various other distinctive individuals and gradually discovers more about Misuzu and the community she is part of.
