Saiyuuki

Tougenkyou was originally a land where humans and youkai coexisted peacefully. That peace was shattered when a forbidden act—an attempt to resurrect the evil youkai Gyuumaou—triggered the "Minus Wave" to spread across the region. This sinister force causes youkai to lose their sense of self, driving them to attack and devour the human townspeople. Entrusted by the Three Aspects, the heavenly messengers, with stopping Gyuumaou's revival and restoring order, Sanzou Genjou gathers three former companions who are far from ordinary. Because of their half-human heritage, Gokuu Son, Hakkai Cho, and Gojou Sha are the only youkai possessing the power and spiritual strength to resist the Minus Wave. Though Sanzou harbors doubts about trusting them due to their mixed blood, he journeys westward alongside them to eliminate the escalating menace.

Saiyuuki was published in English as Saiyuki by Tokyopop from March 2, 2004 to July 12, 2005, and by Kodansha USA as omnibus volumes from February 18, 2020 to January 5, 2021. It has also been published in Spanish, German and Polish.
