After three centuries since the Calamity War ended, the former powers ruling the Earth Sphere have been overthrown, replaced by new leaders in a world exhausted from battle. Meanwhile, on Mars, the sparks that could ignite another war have been lit. The protagonist, Mikazuki Augus, serves as a member of the private security firm Chryse Guard Security (CGS) and is tasked with guarding Kudelia Aina Bernstein, a young girl campaigning for Chryse's independence from Earth. However, when the elite Gjallarhorn unit—responsible for suppressing revolutionaries—raids CGS, the company's higher-ups deliberately sacrifice Mikazuki and the other boys as a decoy to cover their own escape. Orga Itsuka, the leader of the boys' squad, uses this abandonment by the adults as the impetus to stage a full-scale coup. Following Orga's orders to hold back Gjallarhorn, Mikazuki sorties in a piece of Calamity War-era scrap that CGS had been using as a generator—the Gundam Barbatos.
