Set during the actual Battle of Peleliu in the Pacific theater of World War II, Peleliu: Rakuen no Guernica follows Tamaru, a 22-year-old soldier and aspiring cartoonist experiencing their first combat. The story portrays the "truth" as lived by this young person caught in an era of constant warfare, offering a personal view of the brutal conflict on the scenic island.
