In a distant future, thick clouds blanket the earth, blocking the sun. Plants have withered, and oxygen is scarce. To stave off extinction, humanity has developed a method to transform people into plants, generating a small amount of oxygen. Toshiro Kamiya faces a painful dilemma: is this process sustainable, and is it morally right? He must decide whether to save his family or himself. Kamiya is desperate. His mother is sick, and his job barely covers her medicine, let alone food. With few alternatives, he contemplates floromorphosis, a life-altering procedure. Willing to sacrifice his body for money, Kamiya begins to probe the limits of society's dwindling humanity.
