This novel will feature two original narratives that center on the emotions of Tamako and Midori, as well as the lovestruck heart of Choi as she continues her quest to find a bride for the prince on the southern island. Some details written in the novel will not appear in the animated film. Tamako and Midori's narrative occurs during the girls’ third year of high school. While everyone else is considering their future careers, Tamako's mind is occupied solely with mochi. Meanwhile, Mochizou has decided to attend a college in Tokyo. Midori observes the two of them, but she carries her own concerns. In Choi's narrative, she persists in her urgent search for a bride for the prince. She teams up with Dera, who has become round like a ball, using fortune-telling to locate the prince’s future bride, but they have no success. However, one day, while at the country's library searching for clues about fortune-telling, the two discover a certain document.
