Aoshima, a rookie food officer of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, is assigned to the "Submarine Fleet," a unit known for its harsh and special conditions. Aoshima begins working without confidence, but after coming into contact with the personalities of his senior food officer chief Tachibana and the other members of the unit, he becomes more positive about his work.
