6th century, Frankish Kingdom. Sister Basina, a nun of Neustrian royal blood, is bullied and oppressed by her two step-sisters. No one can defy her two step-sisters, who control the convent, so Basina endures her suffering alone, guided by the teaching, "Forgive your enemies." One day, Princess Clotilda of the Kingdom of Paris is on her way to the convent. Her encounter with Basina leads to a major rebellion that engulfs the nuns.
