Personal Information

Kinya Kotani, born Kinya Fujiyoshi and often known by the nickname K2, is a male singer and actor from Saitama, Japan. A Cancer by zodiac sign, he specializes in pop and rock genres. He is best known for providing theme songs for the hit anime series Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, including the tracks "It's," "blaze," and "aerial," as well as for his extensive musical contributions to Gravitation. Within the Gravitation series, Kotani served as the singing voice for Shuichi Shindou, the lead vocalist of the fictional band Bad Luck. Although he is frequently mistaken for the seiyuu who voices the character, Kotani performed all of Shindou's songs, such as "Rage Beat," "Blind Game Again," and "Smashing Blue." There is also a common misconception regarding songs not originally intended for the Gravitation series being classified as official tracks from the show. Prior to his solo career, Kotani was a member of the band Mad Soldiers, which released the mini-album Mads Laboratory. This group continues to serve as the backing band for his solo recordings and has performed live at his concerts. Regarding his musical identity, Kotani once stated, "I am my favorite musician." Over the years, he has used various name formats, shifting from Kotani Kinya to KINYA and back to Kotani Kinya, sometimes with a period at the end.
