Born in Chiba in 1980, Kondoh Akino graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at Tama University in 2003. Her career gained early recognition in 2000 when she secured the 2nd AX Manga Newcomer's Award / Encouragement Award (Seirin Kogeisha) for her manga "Kayoko Kobayashi." Two years later, she earned the Grand Prix for DIGISTA AWARDS 2002 in the Animation Division for "The Evening Traveling," a short film featuring girls dancing rhythmically to music by Toshiaki Chiku, a former member of the group Tama. Kondoh is renowned for her fine, delicate drawing style, which she executes using a mechanical pencil. While she has recently explored oil painting, her second manga volume, "Itumo no hanashi," was published by Seirin Kogeisha in 2008. Since that same year, she has resided and worked in New York.
